After a first round DNS, Marcos Ramirez put together a terrific weekend with both a Feature and Heat win, and served notice he wouldn't give up his championship without a fight.
The first heat featured Richard Hilleman holding off Matt for six laps before a water pump failure gave the power advantage to Matt on the 6 lap, moving Rich to second, with Marcos coming in third. The second heat started with Rich off to a good lead, but dropping a wheel off, cost him two places and Marcos brought it home for his first victory of the year, with Matt and Rich following him to the finish line
The Feature found Matt on the pole, with Marcos next to him on the front row, Rich and Kenyon Kluge in position to steal points while the leaders weren't looking. Tristan Bayless jumped out to a big lead, running without regard to battery heat. As battery heat took hold for Tristan, Marcos cut his lead and finally passed him, with Rich less than .1 of a second behind. As Rich tried to take second from the fading #50, rear wheels tangled, leaving both Karts on the side of the track with bent rear axles. Kenyon exploited his opportunity, and came home second, claiming his first podium of the year.
